I am pleased to see that the rates of testing pool is so close to yours, of course I need to measure the full length of the harpoon, because if you would not miss a parameter in the formula (distance). It is also the most realistic way.
Ideally, you could measure the speed to 3 or 4m. for example, to see the speed at typical shooting distance.
I put these tables with results:
For Speed í¢â‚¬â€¹í¢â‚¬â€¹reached:
For Average Speed í¢â‚¬â€¹í¢â‚¬â€¹reached (this affects non-optimal shot):
Fernando Abella (Usuario) devised some time ago a velocity meter, which I tried in the pool and we had to dismiss because of the complexity of the apparatus (in pool) and the variety of measurements, you just put something not quite perfect, clearly affected measurement ... I think your system should be more stable in this regard.
http://www.pescasub.com/foros/index.php/topic,13818.0.htmlHowever in testing we did in the pool the guns fired more times, not always gave the same results, that is the reality, and the average of the shots were disadvantaged if they had any bad shot.
Here I put the link on the last test in swimming:
